The Future of Performance: A First Look at the Next-Gen Hybrid SUV Prototype

Big news just dropped out of Japan. During a global business briefing, a next-generation Hybrid SUV Prototype was officially revealed, giving us a massive sneak peek at where the lineup is heading. This prototype is the first look at a major wave of innovation, previewing one of 15 new hybrid models coming globally by 2030, with a huge focus right here in North America.

Global CEO Toshihiro Mibe shared that the company is shifting serious development and production resources to fast-track these hybrid launches, bringing these exciting new arrivals to the streets ahead of schedule.

What’s Coming Under the Hood?

We won't have to wait long. The first models featuring this all-new hybrid system and next-gen platform are set to launch within the next two years.

Engineers have been hard at work upgrading the award-winning two-motor hybrid system to make it smarter, faster, and more efficient. Here is what we can look forward to:

  1. Better Efficiency: A projected boost in fuel economy of more than 10%.
  2. Smarter Engineering: A 30% reduction in system costs, wrapped into a more efficient design.
  3. Next-Level Handling: A brand-new electric AWD unit built for incredibly precise, responsive motor control to keep the signature "joy of driving" alive.

A Smarter Drive is on the Horizon (2028)

The briefing also gave us a look at the future of safety and driver convenience. Starting in 2028, a next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) will make its debut. This system is designed to seamlessly assist with acceleration and steering through your entire route, handling everything from expressways to local surface roads based on your navigation inputs for a completely stress-free ride.

The future of premium performance is moving fast, and it's looking greener, smarter, and more exciting than ever.

Stay tuned for more updates as these next-generation models get closer to production!
